Short post on how to get there.

Not far from the historic and hilly city of Porto, lies a calm and beautiful city, with majestic canals and colorful moliceiro boats.

Its not hilly, its not expensive and its full of oportunities for people who enjoy food, cycling, sightseeing or if they just need a quiet city to relax. Aveiro is the name!!
And what if I told you that with just 3,90€, (buy the “comboio urbano”ticket on the spot) you can go from São Bento train station (Porto) to Aveiro city center? It will be approximately 1h12min train ride, along the scenic portuguese coast - where you can see beutiful mansions and beachs.

  • You can check the train schedule at CP's website, and if you need further information on trains and how they work in Portugal, make sure to read my blog here.

Imagine you want to go to Lisboa, or any other city in Portugal, or even the airport, departing from Aveiro (after your visit) and you need to get there faster than you would with a train, there is a bus station right behind the train station at Aveiro!!

Flixbus and Rede de Expressos

Now! Once you arrive, you get out from the main door and you are immediatly received by the old beautiful train station, decored with blue tiles.

In front of this iconic train station you will be faced with the main avenue of Aveiro which will lead you to the historic city center. It will take you, on foot, between 15min to 30min, depending on how many times you stop along the way.
After that relaxing walk, you will be faced with their city center.
Here are some photos of what you will see:

Let me know if you would like to know where to sleep, where to eat and which activities you can do, from seeing the salt pans to go on a bus and see their famous beachs with colorful homes.
